UZH is involved in and supports numerous initiatives that aim to strengthen the transparency of research practices.

Reforming Research Assessment

UZH has signed two agreements to reform research assessment.

Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment (CoARA)

UZH has signed the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment by the Coalition of Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) in 2022. The agreement sets a shared direction for changes in assessment practices for research, researchers and research performing organisations.

San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment

UZH has signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) in 2014, which promotes a comprehensive view on evaluating researchers without using journal-based metrics, such as Journal Impact Factors.

Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information

The Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information, published in April 2024, aims to make research-related information accessible to all through open scholarly infrastructures. As a signatory, UZH commits to using systems that support open metadata, to supporting sustainable infrastructure, and to collaborating collectively to accelerate the transition to openness.
