inseri.swiss – Connecting Data Repositories, Research Methods, and Researchers
About this project
inseri.swiss aims to enable scholars to create and publish interactive and executable online content without requiring web development skills.
inseri core is a WordPress plugin developed as part of inseri.swiss project that introduces scientific and interactive components to facilitate open science.
Scientific summary
inseri.swiss enables scholars to design and publish interactive and executable online content without requiring web development skills. This allows them to easily publish research results in an open, citable and interactive way for easy reuse by any researcher or the general public. The interactivity encourages anyone to edit the parameters, use their own data or reuse publicly published data to explore the research results.
inseri targets four use cases:
- Creation of your own research output website to complement the traditional research output (PDF publication) with a web format
- Interactive online tool via visualization components that allow the reuse also with own data
- Data reuse and integration with data sources so that openly published data can be reused with the previously published online tools
- Data analysis and simulation without the need to set up the computational environment for executable and reusable components, without going into the details of the programming language used for the analysis
As a result, inseri facilitates Open Access and Open Science communication.
Challenges and goals
The goal of inseri.swiss is to enable scholars to design interactive and executable web pages without any prior knowledge of web programming.
Results and Output
inseri core is a WordPress plugin under active development.
Take a look at our showcases where scholars have used our plugin.
The project will run until the end of 2024, so the results and outputs are ongoing.
Impact on Open Science practices
inseri.swiss via the inseri core plugin enables a new way to improve “open science communication to support the dissemination of scientific knowledge to scholars in other research fields, decision makers and the public at large” (in: UNESCO. UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science. 2021, p. 21. DOI: 10.54677/MNMH8546).
