1st Swiss Diamond Open Access Conference

First Diamond Open Access Conference «Acting Together for Sustainable Scholar-Led Publishing»

8 March 2024, Bern

Summary

The conference gathered around 100 experts and representatives from a diverse group of stakeholders, including libraries, research funders, scholarly societies, institutional publishing service providers and publishers for a discussion on the key challenges for Diamond Open Access in Switzerland: funding models, sustainability and scalability. It aimed at opening discussions on the current landscape, existing infrastructures and the issue of quality assurance on a national level, in order to determine future directions of Diamond Open Access publishing in Switzerland and its alignment with European initiatives such as the DIAMAS and CRAFT-OA projects. The results of these discussions will be part of a paper on funding strategies and scenarios for Diamond Open Access published by the PLATO project later this year.
