No deal situation with Wiley and LWW for 2025
The negotiations with Wiley and Lippincott Williams & Wilkins/Wolters Kluwer (LWW) have not yet led to a satisfactory result. It is now increasingly likely that there will be a no-deal situation with both publisher as of January 1, 2025.
What does this mean for UZH researchers from 1.1.2025 onwards?
- Open access publications in Wiley and LWW journals can no longer be covered by the publishing contract (read-and-publish contract).
- Access to the journals will continue for the time being due to a grace period - how long this will last is currently still unclear
Negotiations with Wiley and LWW will continue in order to achieve a sustainable Open Access solution in the long term.

Alternative Open Access Options
If you would like to publish in Wiley or LWW journals and your publication must be Open Access (e.g. to meet the requirements of the SNSF), this is still possible: Retain the rights to your author-accepted manuscript and upload the manuscript to ZORA after publication.
Green Open Access (also known as self-archiving) enables secondary publication of the accepted manuscript version without additional fees.
