Connecting Switzerland to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC): A SENPro Community Workshop

The SENPro project team invites all Swiss reseachers to a national community workshop dedicated to Switzerland’s future participation in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

What is EOSC?

EOSC is an emerging federated infrastructure that is transforming how research data and services are shared, accessed, and reused across Europe.

As EOSC evolves into a Europe-wide Federation of Nodes, and Switzerland has a unique opportunity to position itself as an active contributor. The Swiss EOSC Node Prototype (SENPro) is the first coordinated step toward ensuring that Swiss infrastructures, services, and research communities can connect seamlessly to this growing ecosystem.

Details about the Community Workshop

When: 2 December 2025, 13:00–15:00 CET
Where: Online (virtual workshop)

Register here:Registration.

Aim of the Workshop

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of EOSC’s vision, its long-term strategy for Europe, and how SENPro supports Switzerland’s integration.
  • Share their expectations, needs, and priorities for how a Swiss EOSC Node should function — across disciplines, institutions, and infrastructure types.
  • Ensure their field is represented in shaping the future of Swiss contributions to European Open Science.

Why EOSC is important for Switzerland

EOSC aims to build a sustainable, interoperable, and FAIR-driven ecosystem across Europe. By participating:

  • Switzerland can reduce fragmentation in its research infrastructures.
  • Swiss researchers gain greater visibility, interoperability, and access to European services and data resources.
  • Our national contribution helps shape a stronger, connected, and competitive European research landscape.

SENPro offers a concrete pathway for Switzerland to join this movement, researchers' input will help determine what our national EOSC node should look like and how it should serve the community.
