Programme Open Science II

General information

Duration

The programme "Open Science II" can only fund projects for one year. The earliest project start date is July 1, 2025, and projects must be completed by July 31, 2026.

Central funds of UZH

No additional central funding (Matching Funds) will be available from UZH.

Important criteria for a successful application

According to swissuniversities, in addition to the usual evaluation criteria, project proposals should also address the challenges associated with the successful recruitment of qualified personnel and the sustainable use of federal funds beyond the duration of the project.

The evaluation criteria for your application can be found in the description of the calls for proposals.

Employment at UZH must be guaranteed until the end of the project.

Closed Calls

Actionline Open Research Data (ORD)

As part of the swissuniversities action plan for ORD  (2022-2028), the following calls for proposals were open:

  • CHORD (Swiss Open Research Data Grants) Projects
  • ORD Funding for Existing Research Infrastructures of Strategic Relevance
  • Action plans for the (further) development of ORD specialists / data stewardship (Point of contact for Data Stewards Network at UZH: Dr. Susanna Weber)

Actionline Open Access (OA)

The new Open Access strategy of swissuniversities focuses on Diamond Open Access and Green Open Access. The following calls for proposals were open:

  • Green Open Access  (Focus: National infrastructures & strengthening authors' rights)
  • National Diamond OA Consortium
  • Open Access long-form publications & other forms of publications

Your application was successful? Here is what you need to know.

  • End of June 2025: You will be informed directly by swissuniversities about the success of your application.
  • July / August 2025: swissuniversities will send out contracts to be signed by all involved parties, i.e. UZH, project applicants and swissuniversities. UZH provides Skribble for this.
  • The applicants download the contract from Skribble (if signed by all parties ) to open up the account for third-party funding at UZH.

Signing the Contract with swissuniversities electronically

The contract between swissuniversities, projects applicants and the University will be signed with qualified electronic signatures (QES) of all involved parties. UZH offers Skribble for this service.
